Blog HeadlinesThere is the old saying that ‘content is king’ – and one of your small business strategies better be to learn what this means!

Your Blog Titles Need to Draw them in.  Think about it…What are some titles and sub-titles that grab you?

Personally, I like to title my article before I even write it – with possibility of changes happening.

Here are 5 Ways to Write Great Blog Headlines

1. Answer WIIFM

Your headline needs to also answer the question in your prospect’s mind, which is “What’s in it for me? What will reading this do for me?’

2.  Take time with your headline.

It could be the difference between your reader spending time with you or chatting with your competitor

  • Get their attention: When you read a magazine or a newspaper, you skim over the ads Yet, many of the ads you skip are selling products that may be of interest to you. The reason: There are just too many. So take time to make yours stand out.

3.  Be specific

Blog readers need a story that they can visualize if you want them to be compelled.
If visitors cannot visualize the story that your headline suggests, then they won’t bother to reader further.

One way in which you can make it easier for them to visualize your story is to be more specific. As an example, compare the following two claims:

Example #1:
“Make as much as $200 with this strategy in your first week”
“Make as much as $197.83 with this strategy in your first week.”

Example #2:
“Lose 20 pounds in one month”
“Lose as much as 19 pounds in one month.”

In each case, the second option provides a higher degree of detail than first and signals to the reader that the blogger is communicating the exact story, rather than embellishing or being vague.

4. Drawing your reader into the body of your blog post:

Your blog needs to give your reader a lot of information. Your headline must compel the reader to read your writing copy.

You can get their interest with humor or intrigue. You can ask a question or make a provocative statement. You can promise a reward, news or useful information.

Ex. “What do Christian Conference Centers have that hotel conference centers sometimes lack?”

5.  Get their Interest –  Use riveting headlines that your reader just can’t ignore.

Once you have your reader’s attention, you can generate interest in your product or service.

I have read that marketing can be improved when you understand the use of stronger headlines and much more effective in attracting a listening audience.
