Your Business With a Plan

How do you go about creating your own business plan? Know that the structure of a business plan is similar for most every business, be it a brokerage, law firm, a conference center, an international business, or your local a silk screening business – even a business of coaching entrepreneurs in their businesses.

You have to know your own business ideas/goals, and look over your competition —But, you have little or no specifics on how to put together a plan? Then, let’s get started.

==> Ex: If you are in or are looking at opening a health food store, it would be helpful to see…

  • How your competition, or similar businesses, handle the various sections of their plan.
  • Rather it is brick and mortar or Internet based (Both would be great!)

I know this doesn’t seem really exciting.  I mean I really know this doesn’t seem exciting! I used to hate doing this – but, I know, for me, it was because it was not fun! I was doing it as the leader of a large organization and by myself.

Now I know there are three things you need to succeed:

  1. Training
  2. Support
  3. A Plan
  • Once you know your plan, your vision – then action steps may start becoming more of a reality.

Take a look at businesses similar to your and view their vision and mission statement. It  will be a good learning experience for you, helping you get a feel for what you need to do, and will help you understand the process better –

  • You’ll see how different portions of the plan fit together.
  • Often, it actually brings you deeper into understanding your business while your passion and enthusiasm will deepen – this is a very important part of the process.

You will also find different voices and quality in the different plans you check out. I have really enjoyed this type of research, as it helps me find my own voice.

  • And, it will help you put together the right tone and feel for your company.
  • It will help your clients ‘get it’ – get what you are doing!

I don’t recommend that you copy any plan, but it is very helpful to read over various plans to get a picture of a whole plan and give you a strong impression of where to start on your own.

  • It’s like college – you would never copy someone else’s term paper,
  • You can read over samples so that you can see how a good term paper fits together and reads.

So, business planning isn’t just a stuffy old idea – it is deeper than that. Writing out your own plan, writing out  action steps taken from this, and then actually starting is part of you growing into your business and understanding yourself as you work with your ideas of business for yourself.

This is also, where coaching in business comes helps. As a coach, I have the opportunity to see you grow and break through blocks of understanding the next step and moving forward.

You need help implementing all that you learn. How does it apply to you and your business?

Training is one of the things you definitely need to move forward in your business. And, support in putting your plan together makes it so much easier.
