Want More to Promote Your Blog?

promote-your-blogIf you’re a blogger, this means that you have to promote your blog.

Writing your blog post is just the start of blogging. And, I’m thinking you already know a lot about how to promote your blog.

You just need to be reminded, so that you can keep it on top of your mind and focus your attention, energy, and time to reach your goals.

Your commitment as a blogger must be more than just about writing. That is, if you want to be noticed.

You have to put in just as much time implementing ways to promote your blog, as you do writing that blog post.

So…let me ask you this:

Are you determined to share your ideas, your skills, and become a thought leader in your area of expertise?

Did you answer YES, loud and clear…

Then blogging is one of the smartest, and exciting, things you can do.

But, please allow me repeat myself:

“Blogging is more than just writing.” You got that, right?

Great content (value) and mastering ways to promote your blog is about your commitment to your blog and your audience.

  • Even as you promote your blog, your goal is always relationships and showing your value to your audience.

Your routine?

  • Promote your blog consistently across the free platforms.

This is how you start your traffic and continue to grow as you promote.

** You’ll spend as much time promoting your blog post as you did writing it. **

Building your successful blog, and finding your ways to promote your blog, includes a lot of things like:

  • Choosing the right topic.

Use Google Alerts to find interesting trends in your field to write about-

  • Writing posts that will attract your ideal audience.

You’ll write posts that show you are the one to help them with their unique desires, problems and needs.

  • Attracting your subscribers.

Make sure that your content gets noticed by your ideal audience. That’s you promoting.

  • Building traffic.

If you just do these things, you’re going to see more traffic to your blog, longer visits, more comments, and more subscribers.

  • Converting that traffic onto your email list.

How do people get added to your email list?

They do it by entering their details on your opt in form on your blog – usually in exchange for something great that you offer them and they have a need for.

In order to promote your blog and get those things done that will help it be successful, you’ll need to have a plan, simply writing is not the only thing – Have you read Got Your 2015 Strategy?

I’m always looking our for more people to read my work.
The problem is lots of people think ‘oh I cannot be bothered reading fiction online’ and that is that. I’d love some more constructive feedback on my blog!
-I need to find some more free platforms!

Hi Sophie – Your writing is splendid and provocative – once people start reading it, they’ll look forward to your next chapter as I do –

And, of course, I would be love to take a look and give ideas 🙂

I am slowly learning how best to market my written work. And yes, I find that it takes at least as long as writing it… if not longer!

Each day it gets a little easier, a little more streamlined and a little more effective. Hopefully it will be hitting a tipping point sometime this year where at least a little momentum starts carrying it through.

    Thanks for the reminder!

You got this one right, it does take a lot of work to get people to see your content. To me, it takes more time to promote than to write. I have several steps I take when I promote my blog. I see you do too. But, I enjoy the writing just as much as the promoting. Great content for the day Donna, I look forward to what all you will touch on throughout the year.

Love this Donna, I often have conversations with bloggers who want traffic but don’t actually want to promote their own blog posts as that’s…. tacky! If I’ve spent a long time typing and then creating images and so forth, I want to get as many eyeballs as possible on the post or it’s just not worth my time or energy!

That is so true, Sarah – if you’ve put in time and your expertise to share, but have no one to share with – and aren’t out there promoting – others won’t even know about what you just did! Thanks so much for your comment, Sarah

great post Donna. In the simplest form blogging is about creating great value packed material and marketing. You may have awesome stuff but if you don’t know marketing, nobody will see it. Learn both and practice. That’s the key to success.

Wonderful advice, as usual, Donna. I agree 100%. You have to promote, promote and promote. There’s no way around it. My blog is taking off quite nicely. It’s only a little over a year old and I’m pleased with the following I have. Looking forward to your next post. 🙂

I think using tools to help you promote can make a big difference in remembering to do it.

I use a combination of bookmarked links in my Chrome browser to FB groups, and Buffer to help me remember to push out my blog posts and remember where it’s okay to do that.

I agree that we truly have to spend just as much time promoting our blogs as we do writing the content. Yes the content has to be great in my opinion but it does not stop there. You have to spend the time connecting with other bloggers, building relationships, promoting their content, while becoming known as an authority in your niche. This comes with consistency. You must have a plan of action/strategy and then execute it. Thanks for sharing.
