The secret to successful blogging is writing and having blogging strategies.
What are a few of these blogging strategies?
#1 First let’s have you ask yourself, and write out your answer:
“What does success look like for your blog?” In other words, how are you measuring your blog’s success?
#2 What is the work you’ll be doing to build your blog following?
- Now keep these 2 questions and answers in mind. Then…
- Write down who you want to focus on in building your enthusiastic and faithful group of readers interested in what you are doing and writing about.
- Write a note and keep it handy where you can see this as a reminder for your blogging strategies: “How will I relate to my readers?
#3 What and when will you write?
- What you write about is for your readers.
Make a list.
Concentrate on crystal clear, and shorter posts, more often.
- When you write is your schedule that you will stick to for success.
Tip: Having a few blog posts ready to go as a backup will give you a continual flow of posts for when you do have an interruption.
Why do you need to have these answers and blogging strategies?
Because a great many blogs fail.
- OK, please allow me to share about myself for a moment?
A great blogging strategy: When I first started blogging, my coach suggested that I get a clean design that would share what I do and help expand my goals of my blog.
She also taught us (it was a blogging mastermind) about how to help each post look clean and have the elements to help keep the reader interested.

Yep – I write for my readers – while writing for myself also – great point. Thank ou Robin 🙂
I’m in the same mindset as Robin. I write what/how I want and hopefully the readers will connect with it.

Hello Donna,
Thank you for your blogging strategies. Blogging has been something that I have dabbled in for many years and it isn’t until recently that I got serious about it. Very serious indeed… One of the strategies that I applied that you mention here is having a working editorial calendar. It really takes away much of the guesswork when I’m trying to figure out what to write about.
Great tips!

Hey Victoria – so glad to hear that – and thank you 🙂
When I first started blogging I did it for myself. I am my mom’s Alz caregiver and that is very lonely and isolating and this is how I found a way to deal with my emotions and stresses. I found that there are alot of caregivers in the same boat as me and then I felt I needed something lighter for myself and that’s how my travel blog was born. I am very strict in my posting and work mostly 8 to 12 hours a day. I treat it like a full time job.

A lot of my search engine traffic comes to posts on a sub topic of mine but I don’t think that coverts to a lot of return visitors. I’d rather post on a larger variety of topics that are of interest to those who comment on posts and follow me on social media.

I’ve been blogging for about 8 years now and while I blog for others, the main reason I do blog is for me. Like Robin mentioned above, it’s my creative outlet. A way to release somethings and get things off my chest and share life with others. I hope that makes sense.
