If you’re anything like most of us out there in the big Social World online, you’ve listened to many tele-classes, webinars or researched a lot about Social Media. Maybe wanting to know how to get more Facebook followers.
You know, if you’ve read my blog posts, that I really focus on creating a marketing strategy around Social Media Marketing for your blog.
For my business and the consulting I do, I focus most on getting more Facebook followers, than I do ‘fans’ – I found that’s where my audience pays more attention to me. They are more engaging and fun.
And, they recognize my expertise by what I post on a regular basis.
But what are some of things you need that can guide your Facebook posts and help you reach more followers and maybe fans, too?
Here are a few tips…
- How often to post on Facebook?
I’ve read that there are studies showing posting on Facebook between 3-5 times a day is your goal.
I always suggest varying your posts and then check your Facebook stats to see what works best for your goals of getting more Facebook followers.
I’ve also seen that the weekends seem to be when many people are on Facebook. So, I don’t take the weekends off for posting. Neither can you, if you are serious about building your Facebook Community.
- Have fun and make it fun for others.
Be that Social Butterfly remembering that Facebook is your social community.
People may forget that they are being ‘social’ here, and need to enjoy building their business as they are having some fun.
Yes, you’ll want to stay true to your brand and work, but think of ways to entertain your audience.
- Don’t oversell – but sale the dream.
Check out how successful brands on Facebook sell to their fan base – well what they are doing is engaging with them. Model that.
Just like in offline networking, people can feel when someone is not being authentic and it turns them off. They also know when you are genuinely interested in understanding their needs and finding out how best to meet those needs.
Online networking and Facebook are no different.
Remember to share, in between the fun, about the dreams, the transformations, that you help your customers reach.
Talk about that in a variety of ways. Ask them questions about their dreams.

“In the last hour I was doing some follow up calls and one of the ladies I had met at recent Skincare class that seemed interested in the business said she was very interested and has been reading my emails and is blown away by my products and business opportunity. We set up a follow up date to chat more. But without Coach Donna L. Ward’s tips and training I may have not implemented these practices of emailing and setting time to do my calls. I get so excited when I see it working! Just had to share! Thanks so much Coach Donna! My business just went BOOM with the activity I have added to my calendar.” Marsha Landeros Benefit with Arbonne

With all of FB’s policy changes, it seems like the importance of your page isn’t as high as it was before.

Exactly why I am and have for the past years been more on promoting my Facebook profile page – not worried so much about my ‘likes’ – great point, Scott!
I haven’t really figured out which platform I love best – the page or the following however I thank you for your tips!!! I do think that people are definitely more engaged on my profile page and I should definitely leverage the followers I have. Thanks for the food for thought.

Thank you, Andrea – Glad to have you stop by – I’ll be running over to your site and take a look! Big hugs, 🙂
Facebook seems to be a big rage with marketers online, and of all the social sites, it’s my weakest producing. I would love to learn more about Facebook marketing, and build a larger following. I know it is a great place to build, but so are the others if they are working for you! Great content, and this really helps me with some ideas to build my following more.

Thanks so much, Jaye – I do teach Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and some Google Plus / YouTube marketing for the purposes of promotion our blogs – there always more to learn – then putting it into systems so make it happen! – and that’s great that you were a bit inspired. So glad to see you here, again! 🙂
I love to connect and network on Facebook and I think that’s really the purpose of this platform. I’m not using it as the primary selling platform, and I think that’s what people may overdo when on it. Thanks for your tips, Donna!
