You Want An Email List?

email-listWith your strong content promotional tactics, having your email list is more powerful than ever.

Why?

Because it moves your Social Media and blogging conversations to a more personal setting — their in-box and your email list.

With an email list, you’ll be building a responsive audience of readers, and maybe soon to be clients, for your blog and/or business.

Your blog readers have easily available information online and are using that easy access to tune out unwanted, well sorry, noise.

— Which may include re-visiting your blog.

I’ve noticed in myself that I seem to have a shorter attention span in my browsing of blogs and microblogging.

Now think about this for a moment, please…

You know how awesome it is when your audience comments on your blog or Social Media platforms, and re-Tweet one of your posts?

I love it, and I’ll bet you do, also!

And, I love it when I receive email replies from my followers.

==> So, can you enjoy building and interacting more with an email list of your own?

YES!

As you start to take your blogging and Social Media interactions to the next level with your email relationship planning.

So, I think you can see a bit more sense, and the value, in why a list of your fans may be helpful for you.

Think about it…Have you ever signed up for information so that you can stay in touch with updates from one of your favorite blogs, or businesses online?

– You expect them to email you. Maybe even look forward to that.

Your favorite health blogger isn’t going to call you about their new Spring Get in Shape program. They email you. It’s the standard.

Your own email list can be a lively and powerful way to keep connected and help your followers actually follow what you’re doing and hopefully want more of what you have.

– Your audience will sign up for your list hoping to learn more, be inspired, motivated, and  look forward to the next one. It’s another way to make sure You’re Not Ignoring Your Community?

You know your blog audience. And, it’s the same for emailing.

  • What do you think they want to hear about?’s

The real reason you build your email list?

  • You want to connect with your followers and fans on another level.
  • Taking them beyond Social Media and your blog.
  • Providing them even more value.
  • Keeping them updated.
  • Giving them a moment to sit and really enjoy your email of something they wanted to hear more about.
  • And…someday, maybe, you’ll want to make an offer for them to purchase an ebook, or other product/services that you may decide to offer later.

And do let me know what you thought of this post in the comments below!

What others are saying…

“In the last hour I was doing some follow up calls and one of the ladies I had met at recent Skincare class that seemed interested in the business said she was very interested and has been reading my emails and is blown away by my products and business opportunity. We set up a follow up date to chat more. But without Coach Donna L. Ward’s tips and training I may have not implemented these practices of emailing and setting time to do my calls. I get so excited when I see it working! Just had to share! Thanks so much Donna! My business just went BOOM with the activity I have added to my calendar.” Marsha Landeros Benefit with Arbonne

It’s great that you used to respond to every comment and hopefully emails – and yep I know it’s time consuming, and it’s part of the reason I blog, for me- thank you so much for your comment, Dee 🙂

Having an email list sounds like a good idea. My sister is always telling me about all the emails she needs to go through. It sounds like a lot of work.

Well Catherine – when you have an auto-responder set up – you only have to send them out when you want and reply to those that send you a note – not the same as a personal email server – it’s a lot quicker. Looking forward to hearing more about what you’ll do next – thank you for your comment 🙂

I always reply to emails! I do have an email list and newsletter, but it only gets sent once a week and it is just a list of my recent posts. I don’t want to overrun my reader’s emails.

I know – how you feel on that, Echo – but, it’s interesting the less often I send out an email, the more opt-outs I get – I do the same with lists I’m on – I figure it’s just not interesting anymore – ’cause I’m really not know who they are anymore, either. Thank you for your comment 🙂

Thank you, Amy – I do answer questions and coach on my monthly List Building call at http://donnalward.com/buildyourlist and the basic steps are:
      1. Set up your auto-responder
      2. Set up your optin (box or page)
      3. Have your optin gift for your ideal audience
      4. Prepare your follow up emails.
      5. Then connect weekly – minimum with your email list

Sounds easy to me now – but when I started, I didn’t have a clue – feel free to connect with me for a short ‘virtual’ chat – at https://www.facebook.com/CoachDonnaWard

Hope this was helpful as a starter – and I think I’ll write a new blog post about this per your suggestion! Big smiles 🙂

I guess I’m the one that doesn’t ever want to do this. I find newsletters and email lists very annoying. I used to be alright with it but then they add up and it becomes junk. I’ve found myself losing interest the more I get them than anything

Great post, Donna, and sage advice. I think having an email list is the backbone to any business. I have quite a large subscriber base on my blog. It’s a great way for readers to get the latest scoop on the latest posts, and decide if they want to go check it out or not. Otherwise, how would they know! Thanks heaps.

I’m thinking of getting an email outside of Google that will let me customize. I am almost positive I don’t have that option w/Google, but I want to explore and be sure first before I go elsewhere, because I do love the convenience of Google’s automatic publish.

What a great tool to have. I love talking to my readers! I email them bi-weekly and each reader loves it. I give them great ideas for cooking, events in the neighborhood and just advice to deal with something in their life. Great post on communication, it’s important to keep everyone in the loop.
