Small Business SEO

If we want an income creating blog, we are usually thinking about Small Business SEO. I know that you must be a little familiar with what might help Small Business SEO.

Have you ever wondered why we always hear the term “Content is King”? The next time you write a post for your blog think about that, very seriously. And here are a few reasons “Content is King” for Small Business SEO.

  • Important Small Business SEO Tips

Tip #1 – Search engines generally list sites that contain quality content. And, we know that the text on your site must contain the keywords and key phrases that prospective customers will be typing into search engines to find your site.

However, it is not just quality content you need to think about. Search engines love a site that is updating or adding new content on a regular basis. If you have no new changes to your blog content, the search engines may come back less often. So, you do need to add content to your site on a regular basis – as you will have a better chance to climb to the top of the search engine results pages.

Tip #2 – I had heard about Alt Tags. I didn’t know that this was what I was already doing. And, now I understand Alt Tags and I do use this Small Business SEO tip on my images:

  • Alt Tags are keywords or key phrases used for your images. Alt tags are read by the search engines and adding your keywords to your images will add value to your site adding up to a better search engine position.
  • In WordPress there is a place for you to name your image before you put it into your post. So do take advantage of this tip!

Tip #3 – Meta descriptions are used by search engines on search result pages (SERPs) to display preview snippets from your posts on your blog. A good meta description may convince your prospective customer to click.  Both by the fact that it contains good content and by the fact that it contains the keywords or key phrases that your prospective customer was looking for.

The meta description is usually taken from the first few sentences in your blog post – so be sure it has your keywords and a compelling description of your post to attract your targeted audience to your site.

We know that Small Business SEO is the life blood of a successful Internet marketing campaign. Before you go out and hire a search engine optimization company, try taking some of the simple steps listed above, and see if you can’t boost your rankings yourself. Don’t ever ignore this all-important factor in Internet marketing through SEO. Remember, the higher your search engine ranking, the more targeted customers will be directed your way.
