Need Ideas for Blog Posts?

ideas-for-blog-postsI’ve read that a good writing equation to help with ideas for blog posts would be this:

Interesting Ideas (for you and your reader) + Clear Communication = Great Content

I still get stuck in my own blogging ideas rut sometimes.

How about you, where to you get those interesting ideas?

I hope you don’t mind if I share a bit of my process?

Now I don’t create my ideas for blog posts as much as I research with a purpose and discover ideas.

  • Even as I’m writing, I discover more to interest my readers and myself.
  • And, uncovering interesting ideas for blog posts is the central part of my own writing.

Then I love it when I get ‘Wowed’ through my research and realize that I found something really interesting.

  • Now I’m getting in touch with something that would interest my readers and, also give me a different viewpoint to ponder.
  • Generating more questions about my topic.

With that started, I have a commitment of what I’ll be writing about and know more about what I want to:

  • Have as my headline.
  • Relevant Image
  • Keywords and SEO Friendly use throughout.
  • The heart of my post is now being processed as I draft it out.
  • Links to input into my post.
  • Stay focused on and (hopefully) communicate with clarity.
  • Remember to >>> Use the Essentials for Content Posting

Why get stuck and struggle with your ideas for blog posts?

  • When thinking about your ideas for blog posts, even as you do the research on your first idea you want to write about;
    • Your research with a purpose makes it so effective in helping you with clarity in your writing, that ideas for blog posts start to come.

Ok – that’s a bit of my process…shall we go a bit more into it, then?

What if you just can’t find any ideas at all? And, you’re just stumped for ideas for blog posts!

Try this:

#1 Start writing about something uncommon, or odd, that you found in your research about your niche – maybe it’s funny or infuriating. You know why you felt that way. So share about that.

#2 Find, or think about, a meaningful event that happened within your niche, or that you found in your research.

#3 Communicate what it means to your audience and how does that help them? Remembering that you are wanting to have a two-way communication between you, the blog author, and your ideal readers.

Also, as a blogger you are exchanging your words as publicity for your blog. Read more here and make your >>> blog post ideas work hard for you.

Because I didn’t discuss every possibility or problem, I look forward to your ideas in the comments!

Hey Jeanine – glad you have a lot of ideas – I also have a lot of ideas – but I like to research and get inspired with new ideas – I read your laptop idea on your blog – that was a great idea that you must have found out about somewhere, right?

I write about animals, both domestic and wild. It’s easy for me to find ideas. Just browse through Pinterest, visit National Geographic, places like that. The sources are never-ending. Plus, I live with 3 animals, and have had much experience with rehabilitating wildlife. Thanks for sharing, Donna!

I rarely need ideas for my personal blog but I always need ideas for the blogs I contribute to. Sometimes they provide topic ideas and those help but then I want those ideas for mine. It’s a tough situation.

I rarely am without an idea – and if I can’t find one, I use some saved blog prompts. An advantage I have is that my blog permits me to blog about anything and everything. If I was, say, a business blogger, it would be harder. One of the nice thing about joining blogging challenges is that many give you blog prompts. Save them for a noninspired day!

Thank you for these tips and ideas. Sometimes I am at lost of what to write about and other times I have lots of ideas and so little time. Sometimes I will see things in magazines or on a television show that will give me an idea.

Sometimes I struggle to write about things that will actually fit my blog. I am interested in all sorts of things that I am not sure my readers would even want to read about. I enjoy writing prompts to get me started.

As a blogger myself, I am always coming up with ideas for new posts. Problem is sometimes when I am ready to begin writing, is when it all goes away. It never hits when I have a way to record it, or if I write it down, I can’t find where the paper went! These are good ideas you shared to help, because when you write almost everyday or on a continual basis, it’s hard to just spit something out! Thanks Donna!
