8 Benefits You Can Get From Your Blog (even if you don’t write that often)

The following is a guest post by Tom Treanor at RightMixMarketing.com (http://www.rightmixmarketing.com/)

I often talk to small business owners and talk about lead generation strategies. When we discuss blogging, occasionally someone will say, “I don’t have time to blog!”. I’ll tell them, “Well, if you do it right, you can get significant benefits even if you don’t blog often.” Here are some of the tangible and significant benefits that you can get from blogging, even with just a few well-written posts.

What you can gain from blogging for your small business:

1) Show your expertise to potential clients

Potential clients will often look at your blog before meeting you. Having key posts that shows your thought leadership is a great way to get a leg up on your competition.

2) “Pre-qualifies” your company in the client’s eyes

Companies want to know that you’re real, that you know what you’re talking about, and that you are serious about your business. Having an attractive website and some blog content is a great way to get “pre-qualified” by your potential customers.

3) Can help you get found on the search engines

If you do it right (and it’s not that hard), your website and blog content can help you get found by your target clients.

4) Opens you up to random opportunities

Having a web presence can bring amazing opportunities without you actually doing anything (other than having the basics in place)!

5) Gives you something to share on social media

If you’re interacting on social media, your blog content is a great excuse to get your name in front of clients with relevant information that can actually help them.

6) Gives you an excuse to contact influencers in your industry

Having a blog allows you to reach out to influencers and to get noticed. You can ask them for an interview or to guest post on your blog – assuming you have your act together!

7) Can give you a quick way to answer a question from your potential clients

Why answer each question individually? If you answer commonly asked questions on your blog, you can then send that to potential or current customers rather than typing a complete email for them. Each time you get that questions you just write a short email (possibly with a call to action) and attach that link!

8) Allows you to feature clients or partners

You can do a favor for a client or partner by featuring them on your blog. This can pay dividends in the future by getting you more referrals or by having your partner feature you on their site!
